My laptop takes a while to boot up completely and sometimes I can't be bothered to wait. Can I just hibernate it or should I shut it down everytime. Can hibernating it a lot cause any type of damage?

Oh yeah i'm impatient all right. I think I need to go through and change how many programs should run automatically at start up. The damn thing takes 10 minutes to boot completely. What I'll do is close all the programs I was using and then hibernate it. I'll start shutting down completely once a week.

Hibernating does not cost you anymore on your energy bill, that is for the last answer. Hibernating is actually a very good choice as it is much quicker to restart and it doesn't cause any damage. The worst that will happen is that when it comes back from hibernating there will be an error and you will have to do a full restart, but that is rare and again no permanent damage is done.

Hibernating ur pc doesn,t harm ur computer generally. It just takes some memeory space to allocate to the ongoing programs and the current position of the PC. But once in a blue moon you should shut ur pc down so as to install the upgrades etc...

I always hibernate. It's better.

There is no problem with hibernating.
