Sometimes everybody copies the same description for selling the item. It's usually originally sent out by the product-makers and can be found on their official site or where it's sold, like Amazon.com. That's ok. You can usually spot it by how official, professional, and detailed it reads.
If you're taking another seller's description they personally wrote, word-for-word, I think it might be a violation. You CAN use their description for "inspiration" though.

Yes, I've done it several times and I've even used their picture. Especially if the picture they used looks way better than mine. If you are selling the EXACT same item that they are selling then it is not wrong and like that guy up there said, "descriptions are not copyrighted" I was selling a used black Razr phone and so I looked up other people selling them and found the person that had the most bids and just copy and pasted his picture and information so that I would have the same success he was having and it worked! Of course I altered the information a tiny bit and personalized it by adding some free graphics etc.

You can copy and paste from other sellers, but it is against the rules. If some one notices and complains you could be in trouble. You can try changing the wording a little and add something that the other seller has perhaps forgotten such as measurments, year made, anything that gives additional info about your item.

batter you do some editing after copy/paste. If the original person raise complaint to ebay about this, than ebay will pulldown your listing. Batter you do some changes like font size and name change to it.

No, item description theft is against ebays rules. You can lose your account for doing it.

on an identical time as lack of understanding isn't a plea, you have finished the properly suited element and bumped off it. clarify and apologise to the different supplier and that must be the top of it. you have rectified the blunders and that i very lots doubt you would be in any difficulty.

Sure, why not. I don't think there is a rule against copy and pasting.
