cassie s, but dont you think that that applies to society in general?
I personally think that all political states run that way, including a democracy. I dont really see how that would make the internet Anarchistic

The internet! Perfect example.

I would argue that although it does have rules, who are they governed by and therefore are they really effective and therefore are they rules. China and France to name two have imposed viewing conditions but essentially I believe the internet it is a new community which does not run by rules but runs by the decisions of members of the community, to view or not to view. There are site specific rules but then again looking at whether these sites rules are directly applicable in any jurisdiction is again a matter of opinion.

Somalia I guess would be close. Up until recently it's government has been based in a neighbouring country. Shops still operated, I think there were mobile phone companies working there, must have had power then in the capital? The country was split up between the war lords.

Now its comming under control of an Islamic, erm, war lord/ government/organisation? I believe even the Americans are prepared to talk to them.

I guess an anarchistic state is just controlled by the person with the biggest gun. Hardly paradise...

It is impossible!
The most workable states in history have been those that attempt democracy. Regrettably we are a flawed race we humans. We have never managed nor never will manage to create a workable prosperous peaceful state, let alone the world.
There is only one answer to this, but it requires faith,
I vote for theocracy......
Meanwhile I do my best to lead a clean healthy moral life contributing to society as and when I can.

An anarchist state would have no rules, so the only chance it would work would be to have a fluke occurence where everyone does their own thing to the benefit of everyone else.

No because as humans we are flawed. Anrachy is living in peace with others. We CANNOT do this because we always want to have a nicer this or better that and we would have choas because everybody would do their own thing and people would do what they please because people have no moral values... so it would work as well as communism in pratice but would fall apart because we are flawed

And you can blame pepole for their flwas becuase we are to damn lazy to fix them
