I want to buy a new computer, but I have no idea which one. I would use it for the internet (cable), simple games, d/l pictures from camera, and basic word or excel. I want a new one, but I don't want to spend alor of money. What brand and type would you suggest?

Honestly it's hard to go wrong these days. Dell is nice but you are paying for the brand a little bit. You sound like you don't really care about that. What I would do is go to Best Buy and tell them how much you want to spend and pick one out. I'm sure not everyone agrees with this, but if you aren't picky, anything they sell will do fine.

The Dell E521 line is good bang for the buck. I base this on the fact that you can get one for under $1000, but they have AMD processors that perform equivalent to an Intel computer that will run you about $1200. AMD honestly must be practically giving these processors to Dell considering the price of these computers, hence this is really good deal.

Well you could build your own computer and thats probably the best bang for your buck if you know what you are doing. If you don't know how to build your own and what you are doing Dell is a very good source of computers and if you need any help at anytime there online support is great.

But everyone has there own opinion on the best bang for the buck but thats mine.

If you are trying to play games, go alienware or falcon.
If you need a good e-mail/music/etc Apple powerbooks are hard to beat.
