The refunds were done under my cashier code, because I was training her. What can I do, and am I totally screwed. It all points to me... This account was opened for me, by her. She is saying I did this and I have no way to prove I didnt, except that she had mor access to the account then me.

Think this through.

You need to get date and time THE AUTHORIZATION CODE for the credit was prepared by VISA. When you send a credit, VISA still gives you an AUTHORIZATION CODE at the point of "sale".

Your store register tapes should show you the AUTHORIZATION CODE for the transaction AS WELL as TIME and DATE this AUTHORIZATION was RECEIVED--it should be on your store tape.

Now, you need to tie the time and date of the AUTHORIZATION CODE to the work schedule. Were you working the VERY hours the AUTHORIZATION per the receipt was received or were you off that day or did you work during the day and the authorization code was prepared in the evening?

If you were off that day or not working when the refund was processed, then CHA-CHING. She had to do it.

The worrisome thing is THAT as store manager, you or the ACCOUNTING folks didn't catch a credit that large being processed through the VISA system.

Most REFUNDS THAT LARGE require STORE MANAGER approval at the point of sale? Who approved a refund that large at a store??? And who is responsible for balancing the store at the end of the day?

What support was used to substantiate a REFUND of $1,500?

Somebody is asleep at the wheel!!!

We have a minor mystery!

$500 and up is felony theft. If you know there has been a crime, confront the friend, tell him or her they have maximum 1 hour to call the police or you will because it involves your name. Better to do it that way than trying to arrange bail, get a lawyer and all that.
