Earache is the result of infection in the ear area. The middle of the ear is normally filled with air. But during a cold, fluid or mucus gets accumulated in the middle ear and may get infected by bacteria, which leads to ear pain. Even infections that affect the ear nerves can be a cause for earache. There are quite a number of reasons for the earache to occur, and all the symptoms have to be dealt with prompt medical care.
This site gives a home remedy, however, I would try your local pharmacist for a recommendation of some drops that might ease the pain until you see the doctor.

Try taking a hairdryer and blowing it into your ear. The heat soothes the ache.

get some sweet oil you can buy it at walmart. warm a little of it in a spoon, but do not get it too hot. just warm. put it in your ear, and then place a cotton ball in there to hold it in. also a warm heating pad is great. good luck
