Get your marriage certificate, Go to social security with your marriage certificate, birth certificate, citizen ship papers(if necessary) and valid state id. Changes to your social security will take 24- 48 jhours. THen go to the dmv after the 24-48 hours. You will need your marriage liscence and your drive's license. As long as your social security has updated in the system, it will change with no problem. While you are at the dmv, I would change your registration name as well. Then after that you can call all the credit companies and change your name.

well it will take a little bit of time. you have to have the official copy of your marriage lic and go to the SS office to get that changed first. Then you go down to the DMV and bring the paper from the SS office to get the name on your lic changed. After you have done that you should call all your credit card companies and get the name changed. I found that I didn't get the marriage lic for 2 weeks after the wedding. Expect to be calling companies to change your name for a month at least after the wedding. I still get junk mail with my old name on it though!
Check out the social security website and then your state's DMV site. They should have stuff on how to change your name. No need to buy a name change kit
