Wow, all I can say is that I constantly feel guilty. I am always apologetic for everything even if it is not my fault. I was raised up in a home where my mom made me feel guilty for everything. She always put me on guilt trips to try to get me to do my chores etc. As I am now older, guess what? I feel guilty for everything. I am slowly but surely trying to recover from this. If a situation comes into my life and I feel guilty I ask myself was it really my fault? Am I to blame? If I am not than I refuse to take the guilt. ITs easier said than done but as you go one it will get easier. It was not your choice when you were born. IT just happens that your Birthday is near Christmas. I would enjoy all the presents you receive. Obviously if someone took the time to buy you a gift, it means that you are a pretty special person. I would focus on that. Go ahead enjoy the presents. You are worth receiving a gift!!!
Sincerely,
Trying to recover from feeling guilty all the time~!

you deserve presents. maybe someone manipulated you along time ago into allowing your self to feel this way maybe it was so long ago you forgot. remembering this may be painful but it will help you get over these feelings if that is the case if not ,maybe just have a talk with yourself and say something like 'these people gave me presents because they wanted to." did you ever feel you had to give a present and maybe did not want to or at that particular time couldn't afford it . that could be why . giving gifts is one of the 5 love languages ! it is how some people express love. you deserve love. i hope you believe that!so next time you get a gift i hope you can replace the yucky guilt monster feeling with a thankful feeling.

I think I can understand what you feel. I don't actually feel guilty, but maybe embarrassed. I just don't like people putting me in the spotlight. I'm not shy, but when someone gives me a gift or even a compliment I don't really know how to handle the situation. I'd much rather give gifts then get them.

Interesting feelings, I always feel like I get jipped, as my birthday is 6 days before Christmas. I always get/got the "combination" presents for both my birthday and christmas!

No need to feel quilty about it. Just tell them that you don't want any birthday presents . Or if they do buy presents donate them to the Salavation Army or some place like that, and tell them that is what you will do with them if they buy you something anyway.

That seems an odd way to feel - stop feeling sorry for your self and ask people to donate to charity or to buy you toys and take them to the childrens department of your local hospital - if you feel guilty use it to help out others less fortunate.

It's easy for us to say "gee that's strange" or "why?", but no matter that's how you feel. I can't speculate on the cause, but I can tell you how I would deal with it.
First, tell those from whom you receive BD gifts how you feel, and that you would prefer that they donate toys to the Marine Corps Toy Drive or to a Battered Women's Shelter in your name. If they continue to give you gifts, just inform them that you appreciate their gift so much, and are so pleased, but would like the gift to go to help someone less fortunate. Then do it.

NOPE CAN'T SEE THAT I EVER FELT THAT WAY SEEINGS THAT I LOVE PRESENTS, BUT IF YOU REALLY FEEL THAT WAY, WHY DON'T YOU DONATE THE GIFTS TO A CHARITY FOR SOMEONE ELSE AT XMAS TIME. THIS WAY YOU CAN FEEL GOOD AND MAKE A DIFFERNCE IN SOMEONE ELSES LIFE. LOL
