I need to write a paper on Schizophrenia, and the first thing I need to do is to define it. However, I'm not really sure if it is an actual disorder or just a group of disorders. Shouln't you say "my friend has a schizophrenic disorder," instead of "my friend has Schizophrenia"?
The bottom line is that I don't even know how to define it. Does anybody know a web page that explains this in a simple way?

Schizophrenic disorders are a class of disorders marked by delusion, hallucinations, disorganized speech, and deterioration of adaptive behavior.

Literally,Schiziophrenia means"split mind'. -this however does not mean split personality but rather its referring to the fragmentation of the thought process seen in the disorder.

How about my friend was diagnosed as schizophrenic?
