You answered your own question. Miami has always brought in thugs & lowlifes since the Jimmy Johnson era - that connoisseur of thugs & jailbirds. Fire Larry Coker & suspend the program at Miami for a year - that'll clean it up. This piddly one game suspension when they're playing Duke (Duke has a football team?) is a joke. Put the players for both Miami & FIU who participated in jail. Jail the coaches too. You might even want to think about at least fining the universities so that the presidents feel the pain too. You know, Butch Davis cleaned them up & brought them back into national prominence a few years ago but that's all been destroyed by Coker & his crew. So put the blame where it's due.

I generally agree with some of the answers already given. However, in this case, the brawl was sparked by the other team when it ran into the Miami holder on a kick. There were more players suspended on the other team than there were Miami players.

actually it was a player from FIU that started the brawl...get the facts straight

The mayhem began shortly after halftime, when Miami's James Bryant pointed at the FIU bench and bowed to the crowd after catching a touchdown pass. Moments later, on the point-after attempt, FIU's Chris Smith wrestled Miami holder Matt Perrelli to the ground and punched him.

The benches cleared and the two teams skirmished for five minutes, as several players from both sides were seen throwing punches. Miami's Brandon Meriweather was seen attempting to stomp on FIU players, while an injured Golden Panther swung a crutch menacingly at several Miami players. Miami's Anthony Reddick charged across the field, helmet raised over his head, and slammed it into FIU's Robert Mitchell.

The fight marred what was supposed to be the beginning of a rivalry between two schools with players who grew up playing each other on high school fields in South Florida.

I would like to agree with you but if you look at the tape FIU started the brawl. The thugs from Miami just kept it going.
