My friend is an avid and talented recreational skier. She is from Austria and turning 30 this year and I would like to get her something amazingly extraordinarily special. Price can be anywhere up to about $500, but doesn't necessarily have to be expensive, just really cool.

How about a supercool ski trip for the two of you? Check out a local mountain (if none, start looking in advance for cheap flights and pre-season deals) and hook yourselves up with an awesome hotel. I'd love any man who did that for my birthday. If it's not that kind of relationship, try to work it out with one of her friends or send her by herself.
