no the reason they have oxygen masks is this if the cabin pressure drops they come down meaning there is a leak of air so these masks make sure you get enough to breathe

When you get too much oxygen, the blood around your brain takes receives that oxygen and produces a light-headed effect, dizziness, sort of a "high" feeling. I never did it, but those bottles of compressed air that they sell, and you use the spout to shoot air into your keyboard to get the crumbs out? Some kids like to shoot up on that, through their nose. very stupid and dangerous but apparently it works.
On an airplane, I don't think they would allow enough oxygen to make people actually high... however, if you are panicking and there isn't enough oxygen, that will make it worse. Having the oxygen supply there doesn't make you accept your fate, but it clears your head and allows you to assess the situation.

Fight Club is one of my favorite movies. I love it. Tyler is so weird and cool. I think the masks are for cabin pressure but I could be wrong.

I don't think its true. The oxygen could be there incase there is a change in cabin air pressure, to stop you becoming hypoxic and losing consciousness. But why do the life belts have whistles?

Yup, I agree with the guys who answered b4 me. I've watched this movie with my boy-friend a few times. From what I remember Tyler has double personalities. What he says and does is not real most of the time. It's a great movie. I'm gonna watch it again. Thanx for reminding me of it.

If oxygen DID get people high, then ALL the hospitals and EMTs around the world would be in deep trouble.

not really, but some believe it is, and it has been proven true that purer oxygen does induce a sense of lightheaded uphoria. i suppose ti is no there intention to get you high..but thats for every one to decide their own theory.

yes that's true what he says.. but in reality that is not the reason for them... you have less oxygen going to your head under stress.. and with the elivated air pressure... it helps you stay alert
