Yes, just as long as you don't want anyone to hear them. Seriously! Can you sell a car without showing the buyer the car?!?!?

New bands and demo songs are synonymous.

you can try and play as many concerts as possible but most booking agents will want to hear something before booking you. It is still possible with a lot of hard work but most music people are extremely busy and get demos thrown at them everyday, so even with a demo it is extremely difficult. I have done it with playing anywhere and everywhere create a following then do a demo and you have a following to back it up. Hope this helps.

It's possible!
build an image or look (make the artist a "brand"), get some publicity photos, make stickers & flyers promoting upcoming shows.
Create interesting bachkgorund story or other info to get some press. do public works, charity events, donate time or money to a cause to get publicity.
