The question with the most obvious answer YES!!!!!!!!!!
All the guy can do is cross the ball and every now and then take a decent free kick.
I mean Juninho for Lyon has scored 17 free-kicks in 3 seasons whereas Beckham only has 4, and no one ever rated him in the top three players in the world or even in Europe.
Beckham hasnt been good enough for England for the past 3 or 4 years, but still people for some reason see him as the answer.
England lack the ability to go past players and create space not the ability to pass or cross, so why revert back to him

If only it were that simple. Most overrated in HISTORY? I dont' think so.
The thing about Beck's is everyone looks for him to be the best footballer and he's not, nor has he ever claimed to be. He has talent, quite a lot of it. No he doesn't have a lot of pace and there have been better defenders. However, his talents do lie within his crosses, free kicks and corners. No, there are very few player with his kind of accuracy. He reads the game well and can place a ball anywhere. He might be overhyped because of his personal life but as far was what everyone's opinion of his footballing talents are, I think its right on par.

I dont understand what people are so obsessed with saying Beckham is rubbish or over-rated for?

Considering he plays wide right - why does he neeed to be a great header'er of the ball or a good tackling physical player????????

He is a wide man
He has the best passing range on the planet.
He can score goals from any position - even his own half.
His crossing is second to none.
He set's up at least 50% and more of the goalscorring chances in every team he plays in.
His control is INCREDIBLE.
His corners lead to many goals
He scores free kicks more frequently than anyone in the world.
Over-all he is one of the greatest right sided players on the planet.

The statistics never lie.......
If you had Beckham in your team he would produce more goals than most players in the world.

But people forget that every player ages and peak form is never for ever.

As an overall player, he is certainly overrated. However, his capabilities on set-pieces make him very valuable. England only scored 5 goals in the World Cup this year, and 2 of them were on David Beckham free kicks (one being counted as an own goal against Portugal). He also had 2 assists in the world cup. So on 4 of England's 5 goals, Beckham was directly involved. Say what you will, but he manages to be an impact player when it comes to getting the ball in the net.

I have no time for people who put down David Beckham. If we are speaking purely football and not his fashion / celebrity side, then the man is as professional as can be. Rarely ever has any injuries which means he is available to play most of the time. ...Have you ever heard Beckham failing a fitness test?

He might not want to display "show off" skills like Ronaldinho but for the position he plays, he has actually mastered the 'basic' skills of football which are 'ball control', 'crossing', 'timing' and 'communication' on top of some impressive moves that would impress the likes of Zidane.

Away from his football ability, he has tones of passion for the game which comes through and touches fellow players and inspires fans and he stays "humble". That for me is why he will always have my vote for remarkable contribution to football.

(I'm not saying he is the only one but one of the few)

David Beckham is a lot more than people think of him. Sadly he is performing badly because he choose a wrong club in Real Madrid where play style is different , doesnt suit him. I m not saying he's the best thing that ever happened to football, but his wrong decision made him pay a huge price. He is still a very good player,no one makes thousands of fans cry when he leaves a club just 4 nothing.

Oh you don't know how much I agree with you, what a useless big headed idiot.
This man has cost us so many games he should be shot on site
and the best thing he has done has been to leave this country, hopefully he will not return to English football, and do not get me started on that wife of his, they are perfectly matched and are a pair of Plonkers of the first degree.
