She asked why she had popups, not how many people hate them.
Large quantities of popups mean you have something called "Ad-ware" on your system. Ad-ware is a term for malicious programs installed on your computer without your knowledge that deliver advertisements to your computer. It's very common on the internet these days. It can be removed, but depending on the sevarity of the infection, it could be difficult. I suggest you download ans run "Ad-Aware" and "Spybot S&D". Those are two good spyware/adware removal programs. I also suggest downloading "Hi-Jack This", and post your log here:

They should get you al fixed up. Once you're clean, I suggest installing an antivirus such as "AVG Antivirus" and scanning periodically. All of the above programs are free. =)
Hope that fixes the problem!

P.S. If you post your log on those forums, tell 'em JDWortham sent ya. ;)
Edit: Popup blockers can't stop Ad-ware. Popup blockers block popups from the internet; With Ad-ware, the popups come from inside your computer, which the blocker can't do anything about. So stop suggesting blockers, because that's not the problem.

Just get a pop-up blocker like google toolbar and use Firefox with the Adblocker extension.

I rarely see popups... frequent ad/spyware scans and the absolute refusal to download and install ad supported software (you give it permission to do popups and pop unders when you install it) no matter how free it is..
