Depends on more than the colour of the dress. Hair and eye colour matter as well as skin colour. You may look good in just warm colours or maybe cool.

Red dresses can be tricky. What NOT to do is wear a colored eyeshadow or any other lip color than nude or red. You've got a couple options here, depending on which feature you like to play up more.

1) Do a smoky eye with gray or brown shades and use a clear or nude lipgloss (MAC Lipglass in C-Thru is a great nude). A very "mod" look and in for this fall.

2) Wear a red lipstick that matches the color of your dress and go very easy on the eye makeup...just a little shimmery beige shadow and mascara.

Well, the last thing you want to do is match the lipstick to the dress. For one thing, bright red lipstick makes almost anyone look like a clown, and for another thing, it is really tough to match reds. What I would do actually is use a lip stain. A lip stain is like kind of a cross between a lip gloss and a lipstick. It's way more sheer than lipstick and, like the name implies, just makes your lips look sort of "stained" red rather than painted on. Cover Girl makes a pretty good one, and so does Mac, but it's pretty pricey over at Mac. If you put a clear gloss over the lip stain, you'll get exactly the right shade you want. Also, if you do go with lipstick instead, just remember to pick a red with a blue undertone if you have a cool compplexion, and a red with a yellow undertone if you are warm-toned. Oh, and for eyeshadow, go with a coffee-colored brown, which looks awesome with red as well as very natural. Use dark brown eyeliner and 2 coats of mascara on the upper lashes. Hope this helped!

I am a guy and don't consider myself to have no fashion sense at all, but my wife hangs on anything I say on the subject. If you were my wife and and asked me that question here is what I would tell you. Make your eyes dark, give them the mysterious treatment like a dark pool, so dark that no man could hope to see the bottom. As for lipstick I would tell you to go with a bright bright red.

That recommendation is based on two assumptions. First is that you are white. If you are African American please seek other advice because you may want to make your eyes bright and accent them. I just don't know. Second is that the dress is RED and I mean really red. If it is not a pure solid red use a more subtle lipstick. Select a light shade of the color the dress color leans toward. I.E. if the dress is a bit toward pink, try a very light pink lipstick.

That's a lot of words for someone who knows nothing about fashion but when you don't know what you are talking about it takes more words. Hey, have a ball at the party.

Red lips with a red dress could look good if you got the ride shade of lipstick. Make sure you use a lip liner so the colour doesn't bleed, and apply a little Vaseline over the top for gloss and staying power. If you're going for dramatic lips, keep the eyes simple. Use a little neutral or brown eye shadow, black eyeliner and black mascara. Alternatively, you could go for a simple nude gloss and really play up your eyes. DON'T use red eyeshadow (unless you're a professional make up artist, and since you're asking this question, I'm assuming not). 99% of the time red eyeshadow just makes you look as if you've got a rash. Gold and red is a great combination, so try a shimmery metallic gold. Use black liquid eyeliner to really play up your eyes and finish with lashings of mascara. As for the rest of your make up, red doesn't always look that great with pale skin, so use bronzer. Apply it to all of the face and use it to contour your cheekbones (skip the blush because it will probably clash with your dress). Remember to apply bronzer to the arms and chest as well, using a big body brush, or you could apply fake tan a couple of nights before.

I would not wear red lipstick, it will make you look like a hooker. Stay away from silver too. I would go natural. Red is already such a stunning color that you don't want to add too much more to it. I nice suttle gloss (nymphette from MAC) and some gold or bronze eyeshadow (mythology from MAC as well). That would make the look quite classy and sexy!

Smoke out the eye with Lancome's sparkly black eye shadow...sultry. Put silver around the tearduct to keep the eye bright...pretty. Then, wear a nude lip - or one with minimal color. Don't wear red lipstick unless you aren't interested in getting kissed! Have fun!
