It may improve the quality a little - it depends on the software you're using. If the DVD plays much better from your hard drive than from the burnt DVD - then yes, better quality disk will probably help.

Changing the dvd won't affect the quality of sound and image except if you are using very cheap dvds and then buy decent ones.I think buying Sony DVDs won't affect the quality, you won't even see the difference.
Try to buy a single good quality dvd and burn it and see the difference and make up your mind after this 'experiment'.

The best blank discs are made by ritek, look for those if you want quality.
But the disc is not the source of your below-dvd quality picture - this is a result of your encoding software/process.
In other words it is something you are doing wrong when making your dvd's or more likely the software you are using is not giving you the best output, this will usually happen if you downsample the video file to shrink it down to a smaller size or it is encoded with the wrong settings.

Dvd burn quality on the disc is determined by the speed of burn, the higher the speed, the shallower the burn, the slower the speed, the deeper the burn, the deeper the burn the better the laser can read it, the sony discs are generally no different from say Verbatim and a number of others, its not the disc its the quality of the data level being written to them

Possibly but the quality definitely varies with the many brands out there and compatibility is also a issue as well as some blank DVD brands are not compatibility with some DVD burners. Also you have to make sure to buy the right compatible format as well. So there's many factors to consider before buying blank dvds.

I had the same challenge with a Gateway computer those days. What i want to advise doing first (in case you be in a position to end that) is to objective booting from a DVD and word if it sees the disk. If it would not see it, it is going to the two pass it or shop on an comparable time as attempting as perfect. this could narrow down no remember if or no longer the challenge is application (residing domicile windows) based or hardware (the stress itself) based. My computer made tender clicking noises on an comparable time as attempting to substantiate DVD's - inspite of the reality that it might learn CD's in simple terms constructive. In my case it does no longer boot from any bootable DVD - so consequently I had an argument quickly with the stress. i attempted to bathe the stress using a cleansing disk approved for drives that are many times put in in laptops - yet this did no longer restoration the challenge the two. I opted to change the stress because of fact it become extremely older, out of assure, and it become better cut back priced to change it than to attempt to have the laser realigned. interior the journey that your computer occurs to notwithstanding boot from DVD's yet they only dont' function in residing domicile windows there are some DVD/CD burning softwares that write drivers to the registry that ought to now and lower back supply up your tension from working many times. as a fashion to better diagnose your challenge i could think of of gathering this little bit of information could pass an prolonged way in path of looking a answer for you.

I've use both cheap and nasty blank DVDs and Sony ones and not noticed any real difference. You would be better trying to improve the source files.

You should use a better quality DVD, although Sony is not as good as you would expect. I would recommend Verbatim, very high quality and not that expensive as a bonus.
