Some people will look for anything that they perceive as a sign of "weakness" to take advantage of a person. Kindness is definitely not a sign of weakness, but a sign of respect and compassion. Do not change your behavior or who you are , but be aware that some people have self serving motives. Don't always say yes or agree with someone just because you don't want to hurt their feelings. You can be very kind and nice when refusing a request or disagreeing with someone, and at the same time you will be showing yourself kindness and consideration.

There will always be boundary-testers out there who will manipulate you if they can. But, they make a mistake when they take kindness for weakness, because the kindest people are those who realize that sometimes love has to be tough and therefore the kindest thing to do is be consistent (strong) in not letting people take advantage of them. Well, that's my point of view, anyway.

I always say fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
