An earthquake can cause massive tidal waves, so I guess it depends on how close you are to the quake. Presumably the farther away you are, the bigger the waves would be.

You could possibly get caught in a tsunami (tidal wave).. earthquakes cause these, you know? The water carries the energy through waves.

yes and no. If you had your anchor down most definately the anchor is going to move with the earth. If you were a few miles offshore, no, but if you were in shallow water a maybe depends on how deep you believe shallow. For all the people, who said tsunami, that is only in certain conditions and the earthquake must occur in water, and you must be near the shore to even feel it

The seismic waves created by an earthquake cannot travel through water. So no you would not feel the quake and it would not make waves on the surface of the ocean, so you would not feel those either.

the earthquake is the one that cause tidal wave. but the water could make the wave become weaker. so it depends on how far are you from the earthquake, how strong the earthquake are and how deep is the water under the boat.

specific and no. in case you had your anchor down maximum definately the anchor is going to bypass with the earth. in case you have been some miles offshore, no, yet as quickly as you have been in shallow water a possibly relies upon on how deep you have faith shallow. For all the folk, who pronounced tsunami, this may be somewhat specifically circumstances and the earthquake ought to take place in water, and you ought to be on the edge of the shore to even experience it

A tidal wave will result when the wave hits land. If you are in the middle of the ocean you will hardly notice the wave passing your boat.

Hi:
I'm not much of a geo guy, but I would guess you would feel the quake... cuz i guess that's how tsunamis come up... from the shock waves of a seabed quake.

I would say no, but if you were to wait around on your surf board for awhile, you would get a chance at a Guinness world record ride on a tsunami.
