And the musicians, especially rap and rock, always have an angry look on their faces---why must this be?? Why don't people want to be entertained by happy people and happy music???

Pop music is not influenced by anger. It's influenced by tweens who buy that crap and singers who are sell outs. Actually most of it is so up beat and sugar sweet I it makes me want to scream.
Rock like some alternative and heavier stuff is to some degree angry. However most of it makes a point and a statement. We live in a bad world with bad people and bad things happening. They are just stating and opinion.
As far as rap is concerned.........I'm not so sure it's influenced by anger. Sex maybe.......but I generally don't get anger from it.

It's not that they arent. It's their style in music. They enjoy it. Just like people enjoy Country. It's not that it's anger. Maybe the anger entertains them? Or maybe it's that the lyrics in the song are whats going on in their lives? People have their ways of calming themselves. Either anger or happy. It calms you down.
