Why are they called hair salons instead of clip joints?
When cutting hair, the term hair refers to a head of hair. The term hairs is used in reference to a group of individual hairs, like hairs on you arm, or nose hairs (It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up).

"hair" is a collective noun. It means both a single strand, and the whole headful.

lol... I think when they say "hair cut" they mean the hole head as one... like, you wouldn't say to somebody with black hair, "Your hairs is black." Or rather, you wouldn't say, "Yours hairs are black," even though you are using it correctly... oh, heck... I'm confusing myself!

"Hair" is an accepted plural form? The same as "deer".
