Liberals are always preaching to the world about tolerance. However, they themselves are very intolerant of anybody who disagrees with their view of tolerance- ie abortion, homosexuality etc.
Tolerance isn't tolerance if you only tolerate views that you are comfortable with. Tolerance, by it's very definition means tolerate those with whom you disagree.

I am not the one claiming to be tolerant. There are many things I can't tolerate, such as racism. If someone however is going to claim to be tolerant, then they need to be truly tolerant.

You are right. They tolerate only those who agree with them. They use words like homophobia to label you if you do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle. They use pro-choice rather than pro-death to make themselves look good. Thinking people must look beyond the words to the truth and not let these lib's intimidate them. They do not follow their own rules.

As a liberal-I believe I am very tolerant, but don't mistake tolerance with apathy or lack of an opinion! I try to make decisons based on empathy, logic, and general compassion--though not necessarily in that order. Example: I am pro-choice, not because I believe in abortions, but because I believe that it is not my place to judge the particular situation that the person making a life changing decision like that, has landed themselves. I believe that in christianity (which often times is used as a right-wing platform) as well as other major religions--there is a doctrine such as this also, no?)

Wow, a lecture on tolerance from a conservative.

LOL.

There's a difference between being tolerant of those who differ from you for what ever reason and disagreeing with an opinion that differs from yours.

Disagreeing doesn't mean intolerant.

You know , tolerance works both ways . Why bring abortion and homosexuality in to it . Those issue are a private matter between a person and their God and they only have to answer to God not anyone else , as long as no laws are broken and no body's hurt .
You know your exactly right , if you don't agree with people ,leave them alone . Don't take it upon yourself to chang them , leave it to a higher power .

There is a difference between tolerance and acceptance. Not allowing gays the same rights is intolerant. Not liking gays is lack of acceptance. For those who don't want gay marriage, liberals still want them to have rights (tolerance) but don't like them (acceptance). See the difference?

Be careful that you do not confuse philosophical and ideological liberalism with "liberal" as it is often used in political debates. Just because a person says he "hates" GW Bush, for example, does not make him or her a "liberal". Nor does opposition to the war in Iraq make a person really "liberal" (Donald Trump has expressed opposition to the Iraq war and he is conservative in the extreme!)

Genuine liberalism is tolerant, and the liberals I know like to go beyond mere tolerance and advocate "acceptance", which is more spiritual.

If "liberal" means "open-minded", which the dictionary says it does, you will know who is and is not liberal by the degree of open-mindedness that person displays. That someone is an environmentalist or a "child advocate" or a proponent of gun control (which many cops are) does not make the person liberal. What makes a person liberal is the continuing dedication to peace by way of peace, justice by way of justice, decency by way of decency.

Finally, the TRUE LIBERAL is an advocate of love.

Try telling that to the Christian Coalition.

Sad you let someone fill you with that kind of drivel.

If you dont want my ideas imposed on you with your tax dollars, why should I have to pay for your "faith-based iniatives"?

Cold day in hell when I see a cowboy-hatted right-winger so much as THINK about tolerating anyone not living in the distant past.

Nice try.I saw through it.We are not going back to the McCarthy era.

They practice tolerance as long as you submit to their views without hesitation and you are 100% committed to it.

But there is no tolerance for you if you are black and conservative, smoke, own a firearm or hunt, drive an SUV or sports car, are in the military, the list could go on and on.

Their version of tolerance is more like mind control.

Allowing you to ask this incredibly biased and narrow minded question is a perfect lesson in tolerance. Only people with limited political integrity allow one or two issues/stances define their tolerance of individuals who believe otherwise. Your question is an oxymoron.

As you state they are only limited tolerance. Those who agree with their point of view they tolerate. Everyone else is therefore an idiot and must be a conservative Republican.
