Absolutely. Some people feel that it will help them fit in better with their peers if they feel they are more mature of intelligent then their peers. I know becaus ei am one of these people. I don't think there is anything wrong with it though. I think it is just my, or anyone elses, way of fitting in.

I think some people (women especially) act stupid because they think that is attractive (sadly so do some guys). Some people want to act stupid to make people laugh. And of course...some people really are stupid.

Yes, when they think they're being "cute" or funny. I know some people who are annoyed at someone/some people and want to "mess" with that person's head out of anger. Also, if someone wants to make small talk, but doesn't know what to talk about they my play dumb to get a conversation rolling. I also know some kids "dumb down" to impress their friends.
