Why is it important to have a myspace account? Half of the people on there are strange and underage.

I am with you...Even though I have a myspace account, it sucks! All you can do is look around and send people comments and blah blah blah but to me that's pointless cuz after a while that stuff gets old. So I agree with you and I ask the same question...what is the purpose??

MySpace is used for meeting friends, networking, public displaying your bands and such like that, and it can even be used to have personal relationships. Basically a method of meeting people and just communicating in general.

All my myspace friends are my actual friends in real life...even the bands and bars that advertise...i only accepted them cuz i know em. I use it to post pictures of the sh*t i did over the weekend and they people that were with me comment on how much fun we had and my other friends comment on how cute we are and how next time they have to come!...i use it alot to keep in touch with the friends that i dont call on the phone all the time, just check up on them and see what they are doin so if im bored one night we can all go out.....i do the same thing with facebook and xanga :)....they are basically for younger people who are networking with their school friends, college friends, and other friends....

I use it to keep in touch with old friends and most of my cousins. It's just an easy way to stay in touch with people. I don't have time to be calling all kinds of people all the time to stay up on eachothers lives, so this is an easy way of being able to see what's going on with parts of my family and people I'm still close to from school, along with friends I see all the time now. I have a large family and we're on opposite sides of the US, so it's a lot of fun to stay in touch and current with eachother.

There is no actual purpose to it, except that people go 'what's your myspace' and you say 'I um er don't have one...'
Then you get one and it wastes several minutes/hours of your day, till you get bored with it and forget it exists.
Strange, yes, underage, yes. You want my advice? Don't waste your time.

Myspace is a forum where children isolate themselves from society and spill their secrets to the above mentioned perverts. As a result, contact with other humans decreases while contact with perverts increases.
