Jane Austen, Les Brontes, Charles Dickens, W.W. Collins, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Thomas Mann, Shakespeare, Thomas Hardy, W.M. Thackeray, Goethe, etc., etc. - couldn't live without them - but a few days ago I fell in love (again) with George Eliot (SteveUK), having read her astonishing novel Middlemarch - if you haven't already - give her a try - start with The Mill On the Floss!

Jane Austen & Louisa May Alcott are a bit too chick-flickesque for me, though George Eliot is good (she's a woman). Dickens is too depressing, try Thomas Hardy, much better.
Try the Greek Classics, they have great wit, and tremendous stories. You'll be surprised by how different Homers Iliad is from that rubbish which Hollywood called 'Troy'.

I particularly love to read Austen, but have found several other classics worth reading. I have read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, but prefer The Inheritance, her first book.

I love classics. I have read Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. My favorite was Emma. The only classic I really hated was Moby Dick. After, 100 chapters I put it down. It was boring.

I do when I have time. Now that I'm going to school and working full time, I have very little to spare. I love Jane Austen and Emily Bronte and Thomas Hardy.

Love them, they are usually brilliant books which is why they then become classics.
An re-reading 'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte, as I've just seen the latest tv production. A classic love story.

I do, especially Dickens who was not paid by the word, even though he would have been worth every penny. Sometimes the way something is said is just as important as what is said - there is more to literature than getting the plot out of the way as quickly as possible.

I hate Dickens. Anyone who gets paid by the word is going to write novels that are much longer than they need to be. I enjoy a lot of classics writers, though. Hugo, Dumas, D.H. Lawrence, Faulkner, and Capote are my favorites.

Shouldn't the question be "how often do you read the classics"?
I love most of the classics, and am always reading at least one of them (ok, so I have a habit of reading around 4 books simultaneously at a time).
