Does the SSA print numbers in consecutive order and assign them to random people. Or are those numbers printed according to whom is born. Example if I'm born directly after you. Asuming no births occur at the same time. We are both born in the Same state and county. My ssn is 150-90-2321 your SSN should be 150-90-2322. Is this a legal question to ask the SSA?

If one person had a SSN as 150-90-2321 and the other person had a SSN as 150-90-2319 is basically means that they where born in the same state. I know if the first three numbers are the same then the where born in the same state I dont know about the other numbers but I am sure they have meaning too!

The answers above are correct. The sequence for SSN is no secret, the first three numbers are the Area each region of the U.S. has it's own number, the second 2 numbers is the group number and they are random, the last four numbers are the serial numbers.

But really, I hope those aren't your real SSN's. Those numbers should not be broadcast on a forum like this.

It all has to do with processing the numbers, who is processing them and when. 2 people can be born one right after the other, in the same hospital, and the paper work filled out, but unless the person at the SSA offices has both applications and does them immediately and no other processor in the office is processing, then the numbers would be sequential. You can tell by the numbers what office the application was processed at. There are offices all over the place.

The first three numbers indicate what part of the country you were born in. The rest is totally random and is not in any order.

The SSA will NOT give you any SS information on another person. It is illegal for you to attempt to gain SS information on another person.

The numbers are assigned as they are applied for...if you send in applications for yourself and a child at the same time, those numbers, considering they are entered right after each other, will be consecutive....It all depends on when it is requested and when it is entered into the system.

how you deveolp a SSN is depending on the state you recieved it in and when you recieved it. So say me and my brother recieved ours around the same time... ours would be close but since we weren't the one right after the other that recieved it the last four digits are different

I believe the numbers are given sequentially according to the request for the number. My husband applied for ss# for our daughter and son at the same time and their numbers are one after the other, but not according to age.

Numbers are given sequentially, and they have nothing to do with birth dates.
