Winnipeg has some cold weather in the winter.
Temperatures can drop to -40C on occasion. One can dress warmly for those days. Except on rare occasions, the humidity in winter is quite low, so -40 would feel about the same as -20, with high humidity. As well, the sun!!! This city boasts a large amount of sunshine. You haven't lived until you've experienced fresh snow, glistening in the bright sunlight.

Let's talk mosquitoes.....This year, the mosquito population was almost nil...We went camping all summer, and sat around the campfire until Midnight, and very seldom saw any bugs...more bees than mosquitoes. Even when the "skeeter" population is high, they only come out at dawn and dusk.....very few in the daytime.
What Winnipeg doesn't have?????
No rattle snakes...No venomous spiders...No killer bees.....No earthquakes....etc. etc. etc.
Been in Manitoba all my life and intend to die here.

PS...I don't think that Winnipeg even has a Ghetto...never mind being one.

Winnipeg has its pros and cons just like anywhere else.

However, one benefit of Winnipeg is affordable housing. I'm 30 years old and have my house bought and paid for. My house is a middle class home in a nice suburban area. In other parts of Canada the same house would cost 400,000 and in Winnipeg it costs about 250,000. I work as a nurse and I pretty much make the same pay as the rest of the nurses in Canada. So my money takes me alot further in Winnipeg vs. elsewhere in Canada. So I have greater purchasing power in Winnipeg. So while everyone else is taking 25-30 year term mortgages. I only have to take a 5-10 year term.

YEP---Winnipeg is not for wimps that's for sure!

Cold is an understatement! Winters can be around 5 months a year and the summers are a little cool sometimes but the area in and around this part of Canada is SPECTACULAR!!

People live there because its a great city, not too big and ya don't have a long commute to get anywhere!

I live here. There were NO mosquitos this summer. what you said was really insulting, actually. the winters are usually no colder than ones elsewhere in canada.
