First you should only use Mazda parts Mazda's will have trouble using Aftermarket plugs and wires. But to my dismay I have to admit the Miata does have coil pack issues they run about $170.00 US dollars. Also make sure you using the correct Octane rating for the vehicle. Best check coolant temperature sensor (with a scanner). Sounds like a lean misfire (not enough gas).

might be a coil problem, I say MIGHT, because I'm not a mechanic. It COULD be a malfunction of the fuel pump too. or you may jus need the timing reset in it.

What about replacing the distibutor cap (assuming it has one).
