You want to touch up on your fundamentals. Before I get that, I'll discuss what you should focus on to develop your dribbling ability physically. Look to do drills that strengthen your forearm because that is exactly where the power from your dribble comes from. The less power it has, the more harder it is to change directions and control the basketball in general. The object of this is to tone your arms and not necessarily bulk up. How you go about that is up to you but I did it through lifting dumbells, weight machines that concentrated on working my forearms and running with weights on them.
As for the fundamentals, you want to always remember to dribble with your finger tips. They help you control the ball better. This is why it makes sense to keep your fingers spread as far apart as possible. The greater distance they cover, the greater that control. Casually dribble the basketball up and down the court until you feel comfortable with it. When you feel like you have the necessary control, jog with the ball up and down the court for a couple of sprints. You want to keep repeating this process for a few weeks until you get accostomed to moving with the ball at faster speeds. Once you got that down, look to add different moves with the ball. Crouch down so that you can touch your toes with your knees bended and try dribbling the ball with one hand and alternate. Switch it up and then dribble the ball back and forth between both hands. Then look to dribble the ball back and forth with one hand but side to side. Remember, repition is key.

Get on an internet auction site and purchase Pete Maravich's Homework Basketball series. He has a section dedicated to Dribbling, from basics to advanced. It's a great series for any young person to follow as they practice on thier own. The other sections included are Shooting, Ball Handling and Passing.
