what do you think? How many classes have you taught?

If your referring to the change in CPR rate, no breaths, etc. I've been teaching that for a while now. Probably 6 or 7 classes. I'm still not extremely comfortable with it, but I always emphasize that bad CPR is better than no CPR, and that notifying the professionals to get them on the way is the most important. Remember, CPR is not an exact science. Everything is "about" anyway.

I assume you mean the Red Cross new standards that came out June-ish 2006?

I've been teaching them since just after they came out- infant, child, and adult CPR, AED, and First Aid. I've probably taught the new program a couple dozen times so far.

I think the new standards are great- but it is important that we instructors know the WHY behind the changes to help answer questiosn that come up.

The new videos and 'watch as you practice' program I am less enthusiastic about. To me, the pace moves slow, and it takes away a lot of my ability to tune the class to their needs. Most of the students, however, seem to like them enough that I can't gripe too hard! :-)

The new participant's booklet and Skill Cards are OK, but I really wish they would just include the skill card info in the booklets, and make the booklets a better first aid reference (it is better now than it was).
