Since the republicans allowed the Brady Bill to lapse you can have any gun as long as it is not fully automatic, but you can buy the conversion kit and make it fully auto. I just purchased a AK-47 from a gun store.

you can own any type of small arms and support machine gun like the M2 .50 cal (with fully automatic) you just need a lot of money and legal permits as well as basic gunsmith skills
the reason criminals don't have then is because it's too hard and expensive
however for things like grenade launchers and bazookas may be limited to nonexplosive rounds flares and tear gas

I live in Arkansas, I have many guns in my collection. MP-40, MG-42, Thompson 1928A1, M-60 and M-2 HB. All machine guns and full auto. I also have a lot of old bolt action rifles and such from WW1, Spanish American War etc.
NYC wouldn't let me have them there. Thats why I moved.

No full automatics , banned in 1929
no shotguns or rifles with barrels less than 16 inches long , banned 1929
no , rocket launchers , machine guns , cannons , anti - tank weapons , land mines or other military arms , banned in 1929 .
Just about anything else is OK , as long as you use it responsibly .
