Well, politicians from BOTH sides of the aisle are trying to buy our vote.
That's the nature of the beast. I won't say it doesn't bother me, but ...

However, what bothers me MORE is that the VAST VAST VAST majority
of money in the Republican party comes from companies who are simply
trying to reduce their own tax and regulatory burden. That is, most of
the money behind morality and character ads on the right is coming
from companies who are cynically USING moral conservatives.

I realize that "big labor" (ok, Medium size labor, these days...) puts up
a lot of funding for the Democrats - but at least representing labor puts
money back into MOST people's pockets, not simply into the top 1%.

The DNC and RNC had roughly the same funding at the beginning of August. The difference is that DNC distributed theirs to support individual candidates in certain races, such as in Connecticut.

The RNC held back for the media blitz.

They both had tens of millions to play with. The Democrats chose to go on the offensive early and now the Republicans are spending their money.

And yes it is always a case of the ones with the most money winning. That is why we have a two party system, the other parties cannot compete with the Democrats or Republicans for funding.

One thing you are not mentioning is the Dems....I just heard on my local news that the race for Senate in my state has just set a stated record for both parties spending.....like 16 million between the two of them....them Dems have spend like 7 million of that...and that is just here....in the House race here they have spend about 7 million.....split about even 3.5 million each.....so I would say both parties are spending millions to try and get elected, and that is not new....it has been going on in every election....news, radio, ads on TV and in newspapers....in the same news program...it said that even in the first elections candidates spent an equivalent of between 3-5 million by today's standards....it has been going on since the formation of this country and the start of elections here....BY BOTH PARTIES.....granted I don't pay much attention to ads...especially the ones that just attack the other party....I hear one, and then look it up....check voting records and such...to see if what I hear is true....that is what we have to do as voters.

If you'd left off the word republican this could have been an interesting question. As it is, it's just a partisan dig. Every candidate in every party is spending their warchest right now. Will the one with the most money win. Yes, I believe Hillary wil be returned to the Senate.

It's not just republicans -- anybody running for any office spends a lot of money trying to get elected.

And unfortunately, very often the one that spends the most money DOES win. Not always, of course, but something like 75% of the time. Sad, but true.

No---Republicans and their constituency are irrelevant this time around. I think enough corruptive information has been offered to the public for a unanimous Democratic victory in November. Right now the rats are scurrying to get off the sinking ship---the ones that don't can cry and whine on here till there blue in the face. November will be a wake-up call and hopefully a re-invigoration of grassroots politics.....

When a hurricane is really bad, the name is removed from the list of hurricane names and replaced with a new name. The Republicans have been so bad, that name should be removed from the list of political parties.
I don't think they will win, but with the educational level about 50% functionally illiterate ... who knows.

It is called campaigning and that is why politicians need to raise so much money. That is why people like George Soros, Barbra Streisand and countless celebrities donate to the Democratic party. That is also why I sent a $1,000 to my republican congressman last week.

Well, they don't have the freebie media on their side. The dems have all the major newspapers and networks slumming for them all day, everyday. You sound jealous that even with all the liberal Hollywood folk and supporters like Soros and Peter Lewis the dems still can't earn one dollar for every five the reps rake in.

They both do it come on. I'm just hoping that voter fraud is kept at a minimum. You sneaky Dems are good at it, In St. Louis a Democratic group that goes by the name of Acorn has submitted a ton of voter registrations out of which 1470 of them are being investigated for voter fraud. So far 3 dead people have registered and a few underage kids and just by coincidence they are all dems. I read this in a news paper called the St. Louis Dispatch. You can check it out online.
