I have two last names. My maiden name and then my married name. I use my two last names for ALL legal documents! My maiden name I use in my career, unless it's for legal documents. My married last name I use with friends and family.
You can legally change your name to anything you want for a fee. I believe to change your name it costs around $50. You would have to change it on your license, social security card, etc. You can change your WHOLE name if you wanted to!
Your reasons are a separate issue from the actual question. You need to find a way to deal with your ex-husband if he's harassing, threatening or stalking you. If he finds out, it has nothing to do with him. You are a free woman who is an adult with her own life. He is NOT married to you. You do not owe him anything.

reason of having a jealous ex probably won't cut it in terms of applying to have two names. Mybe you can carry a hyphenated last name, and drop your new husband's when you are dealing with your ex. Who knows, maybe letting your ex know you are married again and have moved on and he has no hope of getting you back will help him overcome his negative phase and move on as well. Sever all or as many ties as possible from him so you can live without fear of him. move to a new town and don't tell him. if you then carry your new husband's sur-name the ex probably can't find you anymore. If your ex ia violent and dangerous, let the police know abou him. he is the one that should be afraid and hiding, not you.

By law yiou are to change your last name when you get married because of you work you will have problems with getting your social security at retirement age. You can get a restraining order if he is that jealous of you.

Don't think so, and what do you care anyway if he's an EX!! I am sure your new husband would be very hurt by this action.

I don't think so. It is against the law to use an alias. What are you hiding from?
