I don't think USC is the number 2 team in the country -- and I'm a Trojan fan. But frankly, I'm not sure who SHOULD be number 2 at this point. There's a lot of distance between the Buckeyes and the rest of the country.
Unfortunately there are a lot of teams that would make a great #2 come bowl time. This first BCS poll is just a reminder that (a) there is still no playoff, which this year would be spectacular and (b) they'll probably muff the #2 pick as they've done time and time again.

Looks about right for now. The Mich vs USC debate is irrelevant give Michigan with either lose to OSU and fall down or beat OSU and move up into the top two.
Auburn at #4 and Notre Dame and #8 are the only team ranked higher than I thought they would be but all in all about what one would expect.
it will be interesting to see if USC happens to lose and WV or Louisville wins out if they will move up high enough to get into the championship game.

I don't understand the computer rankings AT ALL! The damn thing puts a very lackluster USC at number 1 and teams like Georgia Tech at 21 behind Rutgers and Boise State?!? Does or will Boise State play any ranked opponents this season? Being undefeated is all fine and good but you have to actually play SOMEBODY to be considered legit. People are also trying to figure out who they love in te SEC while all of the teams have suffered embarrassing losses (I include Florida in this because they were really outplayed by Auburn at the end of the game and were thoroughly unimpressive when the pressure was on). Also, the computer had Ohio State at number 3!!! What exactly is that thing going off of? This is REALLY fuzzy math.

I agree with you about USC and Michigan. I do not think they should be ranked NEARLY so high! I can't really answer about OSU, as I haven't watch any of their games yet this year. I am a Nebraska fan and I think they should be rated about where they are 17th. Overall, I think they did a great job in rating some teams, while I think they did an awful job on others.

The BCS is crap some of those computer rankings are just flat out nuts. Here we go the lowest Ohio state was ranked was 5th, USC 9th, Florida 12th, Cal 16th, Auburn 22nd, Tennessee 27th, Texas 21st, Notre Dame in one poll was 35th along with West Virginia, Arkansas is 49th in one poll.
Some of the high rankings make no sense either here goes the teams that are ranked at #1 in different polls
Ohio State
USC
Michigan
Florida
Cal
Texas
I dont know who comes up with this crap or how they come up with it but they need to get with it and have a playoff. These rankings for the most part are crap, and I dont know how Tulsa got in the mix with dazzling wins over Stephen F. Austin, North Texas and ECU 18-20 combined opponents win loss record. So how did they get ranked that high, it cant be SOS. These things are just a cover because the conferences want the money from bowl games, and we swallow it because we have no other choice.

The BCS is crap and that computer should be thrown in the trash!
The D1 national championship is the only major championship in sports to not truly be decided on the field.
Every other title, from kiddie leagues to high school and everything in college and the pros is decided on field.
Keep the BCS, use the four major bowl games as a playoff, and then you would need only two more weekends to finish the tournament and have a real national champ.
The logistics could be worked out so they started during the down time in December and finished around Jan 1.
The colleges and networks would make way more money (and we all know that's what they really care about) and we would all have other things argue about, like who got left out of the tournament.

I believe OSU should be #1 but I don't believe USC should be #2. In my opinion that should be Michigan.

decision a million your unlikely to paintings out 3 communities from the comparable convention in a bcs bowl this might create an uproar or possibly a available healthy filed in courtroom docket. If Georgia get close out of sec championship game then the sec champ and runner up is going now no longer the 0.33 place group. If this does ensue , then Kansas has a respected regulation healthy. That allot of money they skipped over out on, BCS officers wont take that danger. Ohio St will beat USC. optimal likley end with one loss. Wisconsin or Illinoise, if a sort of two do now no longer, they're unbeaten. No Oklahoma isnt the exceptional O-line indoors the rustic, that reward went to West Virginia, yet being a real swifter fan now no longer something incorrect having that for the size of your coronary heart. Florida in basic terms isnt solid sufficient to conquer out Georgia, even even with the actuality that the two will deliver approximately 2 loses. LSU optimal likley end with a million loss, yet I hopeing for 2. West Virginia choking against S.Florida fairly unlikley, the offense of WVU is now now no longer one dimensinal, subsequently S.Florida skill to stack up on the line to renounce the run isnt indoors the game plan anymore, plus the two video games Pat White strengthen into now no longer in touch, one strengthen into an early injury the placement he left the game, the a number of game Brown began and performed the completed game. thrice in a row, now no longer likley. Championship game boils each and each of ways right down to Ohio St verses any of those 4 communities: Oklahoma,Missouri West Virginia or LSU offering they win SEC championship they lose then thats 2 losses for them besides.

I was surprised ND was in the top-10. I know they only had one-loss, but they got blown out that loss, and then they barely beat MSU, who now has 3-losses.
