And did it change the systems of American government and social order?

It was a radical plan that forever changed the role of government. It created Social Security which is really a form of check kiting. It requires present workers to pay the benefits of those retired or injured instead of letting people save for themselves and be responsible for themselves. Economically this was not sound in the long run and the program is slated to start running out of funds about 2030 - just about the time I would start benefitting from it. So either the government will need to cut benefits or raise taxes to pay for this form of government hand-holding.
