Some of the celebrities are definitely well motivated but for others its the new trend like the latest new pocket book or designer shoes i think if they really want to help they should donate money build orphanages and such can you imagine being Madonna's black child it almost seems like i would prefer to stave than to be handed such a terrible fate.

No! It's always great when people adopt rather than having their own but these celebrities are making it "trendy" which is just sick. I think it was okay until Madonna just did it and now it really seems like it's a "Hollywood" thing which is sad. Especially when the children aren't even orphans and there are other kids out there with no parents at all!

Well Joe if it keeps them off the streets for after all said and done the celebrities are not finding these kids with a silver spoon in their mouth, these are poor kids that Sir Bob Geldof & Bono will be raising monies for next year so lets not jump on that old" doing for the wrong reason" and ask if by asking the question it might stop a well motivated star that Joe your NOT! do the same.
Although i am sure envy is not the motive for your question Joe!!

Although I have wondered the same thing, I don't think the children think motive is as important as the fact that they now have a chance at life. Furthermore, I'm hoping it can influence others to be more active in helping poor children all over the world-maybe it can serve to bring awareness.
Motive is mostly between the individual and the God they serve.

No, they are just doing it to keep their names in the headlines. I understand that children all over the world are suffering, but what makes those kids over there any different then the kids HERE that are suffering as well?

These celebrities should try to fix the problems we have right here in our own backyards instead of going to these 3rd world contries to adopt a child just to be in the next weeks issues of People magazine.

No it's a publicist gimmick, and in the long run it could leave the child open to soem of the many fetishes, and undesirable traits actors and actresses are known to indulge in. With all of the American chldren who needs a home it sucks to see a millionaire like mcdonna travel 10,000 miles to adopt a child just for the publicity.
You already know she is not going to live as their mother,

If these celebrities honestly want to help these children it's great. I don't think it needs to be a public thing. Just quiety adopt your child. We follow celebrities every move too much.

I think this is just another way for Madonna to be in the spotlight. If she wanted to adopt a child, why didn't she adopt one in the US?
