Shortcut for US dollar sign?

Question

My computer only has the £ sign and I need to insert a US dollar sign. Does anybody know the shortcut for this or where I can look for this synbol. I looked in fonts but could not see it and also in symbols. Thanks.

Press SHIFT and the number 4 on the keys above the letters (not the number pad).

Isn't it amazing how many people don't read the question and don't realize a computer keyboard is different for different countries. And for the people who don't recognize the pound sign it is English.

Hold down Alt and type 036. That is ASCII code for the dollar sign.

If shift 4 doesn't work.

Hold the ALT key and press 36 on the numeric keypad on the right side of your keyboard. It only works over there and not on the top row numeral keys. Release ALT and the sign will appear!

pesss shift then the 4 key above the letters see $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ if you are from a country other than the usa then you might not have a dollar sign on the keyboard.

Since I'm not sure of particular computer set-up... if you need it fast, or if you don't get a good answer...here it is! Just copy and paste in wherever you need it, and maybe just create a new document where you can get it again. (I did the same when I needed a British symbol for pound!) It's probably hiding in your symbols section somewhere...

Go to Accessories -> Character Map. That should have the dollar sign to copy

The dollar sign is with the number 4. Just use the caps button to use it.

I think you are not using US English in your Computer. that may be the reason. Other wise it is Often SHIFT+4 =$
