i think that women should have a chioce to do with her body. however i also beleive that fetuses shouldnt be aborted whenever theres a mistake. but for those of you who are pro life: what if the woman was raped? or a victim of incest? what if there were complications in which if the mother gave birth the mother would die and in turn the baby? these are the only circumstances in which i think that a person should be allowed an abortion. and for those of you who say what if the woman gets accidently pregnant and she wasnt ready, i beleive that in that case she should try to raise it or give it up for adoption and give it the chance for a better life. also a fetus should not be killed just cause you couldnt keep it in your pants or wear a condom. what are your views on it?

There is more involved than the women's body. The fetus is not part of the women therefor the rights of the fetus as a potential full human need some legal protections from any casual killing. Too many abortions are being done merely for convenience so something needs to be done to reduce the abortion numbers. There are basic human rights of the father often involved as well. These should not be ignored. I think Grand parents also have some rights that should not be ignored. Society as a whole needs to protect the rights of all of the parties involved better than it is currently. Currently the rights of the mother seem to be overly important. There is something wrong with a society that kills a million or more of its own unborn every year. Isn't it over 20% of all pregnancies are aborted in this country. Obviously something has to change. If individuals can not handle their lives responsibly the government has to step in to protect the rights of society, the unborn, the father and the grand parents. The mother's rights are not the only ones that are important. Lets get real here. Otherwise the fabric of our society is being destroyed.

I am for abortiong in several cases....rape for example.....in that situation the mother did not choose to have sex, therfor not choosing to get prego...

However, I don't think that it should be used as a form of birth control....an 17 year old girl should not be allowed to have it done because her and her boyfriend choose to have unprotected sex, or sex at all for that matter....everyone who chooses sex knows that is how babies are made and even with protection, it can happen....There are other options like adoption....One thing that I find funny is that in some states a person can be charged with murder if they attack a pregnant women and the baby dies....but a pregnant women can choose to end the life of the fetus....whats the differance....

For those that think its the womes choice, what about the father....do they not have a say wether thier child lives or dies....granted in most cases where a women is thinking about that the father is not going to care and may even encourage, but what if they do....they should have a say if they want to...

There are two distinct issues.

Rape is clearly against the woman's will, so it should be her choice. Also, if the baby is going to be significantly deformed, leave it up to the mother.

Brith control didn't work? Wrong reason to abort. Nobody can say for sure that you aren't taking a human life. Do you want to risk murdering your own child? Also, aborting because you're not married is inexcusable. I dumped a girl for that once. I'd do it again, too. No love for people who would rather abort than raise a child outside of what a conservative society expects. WE define our values today, and we are MUCH more capable than the older generations at defining our course.

Think it is a profound evil and indicative of the hedonistic slide America has taken over the past 30 yrs. In the case of rape or incest the baby is still a human life that is precious, it should not be aborted. If the mother's life is in danger, which is rare, then the mother/husband/doctor/should decide.

In the case of rape or incest, you need to remember that the crime committed was not the baby's fault. The baby is innocent and does not deserve to die. Furthermore, abortion only increases the trauma of a woman who has been raped. It causes her to become the aggressor, hurting another innocent victim the way she was hurt, and that will haunt her for the rest of her life. In the case of incest, abortion is often forced to allow the abuser to continue the molestation without detection.

Studies have shown that most women who abort babies conceived in rape end up regretting it, while none of the women who give birth regret it. For more information on this and to read some stories of women who conceived in rape, see:

My views are pretty much the same as yours. Rape, incest, physical health of the mother I have no problem with. But in today's day and age we do know what causes pregnancy and how to prevent it. That applies to both genders. As a rule abortion should be generally unnecessary. What's the old adage an ounce of prevention vs a pound of cure.

i agree with you. fooling around and being able to kill a life created in an irresponsible act is murder. if you didn't think about affording a baby, or the impact that a miracle will have on your fun-loving lifestyle, keep your legs shut!

i always have to state that i have never been a woman, never been raped or the victim of abuse or incest, and do not believe there can be a blanket law or rule, but laws must be passed against murdering an innocent child because it interferes with your selfish lifestyle.

While I am to old to have to worry about it, I always prayed I would never have to be put in that position, While the thought of someone getting an abortion does not make me happy, it makes me sad actually, but what also makes me sad are unwanted, undesired, unwelcome babies born to mothers who should not be mothers, It is a very very tough position and I for one don’t think I have that right to make that decision for someone else, if this makes sense. Am I pro Abortion, NO, am I Pro Life, YES, ....Should I FORCE my will on woman being a man myself, NO!!! There for I can not choose for them, they have to choose, that’s where Pro Choice comes in

I am pro choice. My views are that it is legal for a woman to abort her baby up to a certain fetal age. For no reason whatsoever. That is just the way it is. Do I think we should force girls to have and try to raise an infant they don;t want? No. Do I think that every effort should be made for those girls to carry and give up that infant for adoption. Yes. But in the end no matter what peoples viewpoints are. It is legal. until that changes, nobody but the woman or girl with the fetus in her womb can make that desicion for her, no matter how much you don't like it.

I don't believe in abortions because babies should know who their parents are and they deserve to live their life. if you knew you were pregnant then that was your choice to have the baby. you shouldn't get an abortion because you feel that you can't take care of a baby. you need to be up to your responsibilities and start caring for ohters and stop thinking about yourself because the future depends on everybody not just one person. before making your decision you sholud think it over and talk it over with the one you love and that will make your decision much easier to make.
