the back up is laughable, they start you off cheap then jump you to an overpriced tarriff which you are locked into, they do not follow up complaints and there service is terrible!! if you are looking for broadband avoid at all costs!!

i'm with bt, i moved from 2-8meg broadband. not overly faster but the biggest difference.. i get disconnected more often now!! go figure!
the back up is poor, british telecom is now india telecom, no offence to the indians but there is quite often difficulty with language. there english is superior to my indian etc..
I spent a collective time of 4 hours waiting for calls to be answered, 9 hours on hold, 2 hours in actual discussion.. 5 different call advisers including 1 who hung up because she could not solve the problem..
in the end i cancelled my then email address and opened effectively a new account because my account/email was lost during "migration"
i had to resolve the issue with my limited internet knowledge.
in the end i got one month free connection!!
not a great advert

I found BT to be very good, and the people you speak to, speak english as a first language so that's great. Unfortunately they are expensive compared to other providers. If I were richer, I would stay with BT.

go cable, ntl or telewest then you get a dedicated line. With Bt you are always going to be using old phones lines for your access which are gonna be slow. Telewest are great you get free digital tv at the mo too.

Its an absolute friggin shaggy dog tale this is, sending each and all of the artwork to India to up length earnings. with us consumers being so annoyed at this, companies could desire to somewhat realize that they could have a miles better return on investment over the long-term , than putting up shop in India and then pulling the plug on it while consumers depart. do a sprint prognosis ole chap on uk based call centres, there is hardly any left. in banking there is in ordinary terms like natwest left. and that all of them have stupid names like Kylie and George while they're easily kulvinder and joginder.
