I was wondering if it's too soon to be taking pre-natal vitamins eventhough I'm not sure I'm pregnant. Are they really expensive and where's a good place to buy them? I've also been shedding a lot lately and getting really intense headaches. Are these common signs of pregnancy?

If you are trying to get pregnant it is a good idea to be taking prenatals now. A friend of mine had a baby with spinal bifida, which is from a lack of folic acid really early in your pregnancy (like the first two weeks before you even know you are pregnant) which could have been prevented if she had started prenantals while trying to concieve. You can buy prenantal pills pretty much anywhere. I am pregnant and even though my doctor gave me a prescription, the pharmacist told me it would be cheaper than my copay to just pick up a bottle off the shelf. I know they have them at Walmart, Target, Rite-Aid, Walgreens, etc. Headaches are a sign of many things, but all of my pregnancies have started that way,so maybe you are pregnant. Usually once you start having symptoms you will test positive within a week or so of them, so you shouldpick up a EPT or similar early test. Good Luck

the best prenatals are gotten from your doctor thru a prescription. I am pg and am taking PrimaCare One. If you have insurance, the copay on them is typically 3 dollars. Lots of prenatals cause constipation and these have a built in stool softener plus all the Omega-3's a baby would need if youiwere to get pg. Good Luck!

the ones at walmart in the pink bottle. there arent harmful if you arent prego, my sister in law has been taking them for years and she has no intentions of having a child. they make her feel better and her nails and hair grow better. a lot of doctors actually suggest starting on prenatals up to a year before trying to conceive to build up the vitamins and stuff that you need. be forewarned though that they may cause constipation.

Just talk to your doctor and he/she will get you started and point you in the right directions.
