ok since somebody for some reason still felt the need to add a ask your doctor answer, i am aware that most people on here arent medical professionals so let me clarify the question a little more, just looking for general things about changing blood pressure medication and experiences people have had with it to get a better idea of why the doctor is doing, and POSSIBLE effects it may have, just to get a better idea of things to look for and things to ask the doctor, i asked a general question to a get a general answer, dont mistake this question as being something that will override a doctors advice, but sometimes getting advice from people who have had experiences with such things can help give a wider spectrum of understanding, and open a person up to things they may have not have considered, that may have been overlooked by the doctor and themselves, so that when she next visits the doctor can ask more specific questions and so on and so forth

It is not uncommon for people with high blood pressure to have their medications and dosages changed. If your mom has been following her dietary and exercise guidelines her blood pressure may be becoming more controlled naturally and the same medication that didn't help when it was higher will now control it. She should definitely talk with her doctor, ask any questions that concern her, and expect detailed, understandable answers.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Blood pressure is a complex issue and varies from pt to pt as far as what causes it and what keeps it in control. This is the sort of things that only a doctor who knows your mom's history can answer properly. You are looking for answers in such a medium. These people out here aren't doctors and even if they are they don't know your mom's medical history. Bad idea. Consult a doctor- common sense alt.

Look I am no expert on this, but all BP treatments are for symptomatic relief only and as you know all drugs have certain side effects ,some more some less, so I guess her doc just wants to control her Bp with a drug which is less potent and has lesser side effects, but like I said I am no expert. I am a student myself and Blood Pressure is not my area of expertise.
