if we narrowed war to 'me' against 'you' which it essentially is. Then in what areas of living are you from it?

I feel our true achievements are spiritual, philosophical and artistic. Those achievements awaken the mind and soul to a greater reality and redefine man's relationship with the Universe.
Technology can serve any purpose. It is neutral in nature. It can make medicine more efficient, but also war. Corporations want to create crops that do not reproduce, so that instead of using genetics to attempt to feed the world, they want to protect their hold on the third world and starve it further. Technology without wisdom only leads to the creation of a race of well-armed barbarians.

Certainly war is not man's greatest achievement, but it certainly does bring one to the realization that this species as you called us in another question have a unbelievable ability to survive wars upon wars, and still come out trying our best to find that which is altruist for all mankind, those things which will uplift the human race as a whole, albeit the going seems extremely slow, especially for us who sit at a point in time and science that we can see so much of the past.
The greatest is not war, the greatest is the surviving it with our humanity still tucked away for the future generations of mankind.

No war is not mans greatest achievement, its mans biggest mistake, war is unnecessary but unfortunately greed and power overtake those views, the ones in the big offices who decide which country should be invaded this week are the ones who stay alive, the young soldiers who's aim in life is to protect the country they love are the ones been killed, if man is to achieve anything for our future's they need to understand each other more and talk properly without prejudice.

Music, pasta, literature, art, tennis. Not war, which is something that happens when people are arguing over things other than the list above (ie religion and politics and such like). No one ever started a war over who recorded the definitive version of La Bamba (Los Lobos) or which pasta shape is best (those tubey ones).

I think mankind's greatest achievements are the OREO and Snickers Bar.
Heck, you fly a plane over a Battle Field and drop those and the war be over.

War's not really an achievement is it? I think managing to get off this rock and into space, however briefly, was quite an achievement for a race who only a few years ago were sharpening stones and wearing mammoth jackets.

Why would War be an achievement? I would have to say the written word and the ability to learn.

Our achievement is our technology that is helpful to all but our pitfall is the divisiveness that is depriving the whole to receive the goodness from our technology. We are using the latest inventions to kill mass of people.
