I take my temperature with a basel bottom thermometer and does ovulation occur the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd day before my temp. hits 98 degrees. From what I have been told once your temp hits 98 degrees there is little chance to conceive. The fertile days are the days leading up to the 98 degree mark.

you are fertile anywhere from 10-14 days after your period....Then minute you see a change in your temp that is when ovulation should be happening, but an egg does not release every time you temp rises... Just relax and conception will happen as soon as God is ready to bless you with a child.

This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expect. My husband and I tried for a year to conceive and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths

Females usually ovulate about 14 days after the start of their period. However females with irregular periods can ovulate at any time during their cycle. Sometimes during ovulation there will be a whitish-clearish gooey type discharge. I believe that your temperature rises at the time of ovulation. Why don't you get an ovulation detector kit? Your most fertile days are anywhere from a few days before ovulation thru a few days after ovulation. If you have any additional questions you should definitely consult a doctor.
