My father accidently ran over a Brown Anole Lizard with a lawn mowers. His back left leg has grass stuck to it and is bloody, it is also hanging uselessly. His tail is hurt too, but I know it will grow back. If my mom lets me keep him, what do I keep him in, what do I feed him, and how do I give him water?

Thankyou everyone, this is the second crippled animal I've saved. I saved a crippled butterfly too, and kept her alive for a week and 1/2.

Get a 10 g tank or larger, get a water dish, basking lamp, ceramic lamp or under tank heater or UVA/UVB light, Use Reptile bark for the flooring ( Coconut fiber if u can find it), They like company, so be sure to find it a guest too, It may eat small crickets if still small (Gutloaded) Give it a variety of feeder insects such as Butter Worms, Wax Worms, SuperWorms (Adults), or mealworms. These aren't illegal to keep w/o a permit so, don't worry. They live up to 4 years max

Agree with both of the above. Also feed meal worms, they have a lot of fat content and that should help him keep on weight. If the meal worms look too big do wax worms or maggots.

The lizard may not make, but it is really cool that you want to try to save him. Hopefully he makes it, good luck.

I agree with the above answer. But, be sure to clean the initial wound with betadine and keep the wound clean. It can live a nice healthy life with only 3 legs.
