This casting was used on the following engines and years of make:

3969854....396.......69......2 or 4 bolt
3969854....402.......70-72...2 or 4 bolt

I checked three sources and found all to confirm that the casting number 3969854 was introducted in late 1969 on approximately late May/early June production. This block was used in Full Size, Chevelle, Camaro and Chevy II's.
One source lists it in both 396 and 402 (a .030 over 396) CI sizes, another lists it only as 402 CI and the other doesn't list CI just BB application.
Your block would probably be a 2-bolt style (for L-34/L-35 options) as the 4-bolts were used in the 375HP (L-78/L-89) only - according to two of the sources, the other does not list RPO applications.

hope this helps...good luck
