One word: Pretense. Most people put up a false persona. Either more outgoing, more intellectual, more classy/cool, etc... Not many people actually put their true self out there online for the simple reason that they are insecure about who they really are or know that they can easily hide their shortcomings. They will try to get you to believe that they are the person that they think you want them to be, not who they really are. And no real friendship can be based on what amounts to several blatant lies. I also agree with Tokiya Mikagami. I've gotten to be pretty good friends with several people, but the friendship never goes very far because of thousands of miles...

Hello,
Usually most people are skeptical about the other person on the other side of the firewall and usually the list is endless;
-lack of visual contact
-lack of proper communication and connecting language
-diferrences in interest, misunderstanding of words used
-lack of humour
-sense of deception and foul play
-lots of people now exchange porn instead of useful information
-poor internet conection
-wrong or suspecious email or mail id
but the worst is lack of proper and polite follow up.
So the next time you realy want to make and keep a friend, try to be sincere and open. For a trial, you can write back to or buzz me on justyn3x@yahoo.co.uk

The World WE live in makes it hard for Us to Trust (Openly), or at least not without an Element of Distrust!
I Like a Certain amount of Anonymity, but happy to Communicate with ANYONE who is Not a Fruit!!
Even Set up a 360 page to see who would pay me a Visit!
Great Community isn't it!!

Ive never have problems. Infact I met my husband online in yahoo games he was living 7000 miles away from me at the time.
Suggest you try chatting to folks in yahoo games or any of the many chatrooms. Find one that interests you i.e. music, games, etc.

Its not so hard to make friends online. You just need to go to the same chat room consistently.

I find just the opposite. I have dozens of wonderful friends all over the world. It's great! I have learned so much from them.

because people on-line usually act differently than they really are. And distance is a factor - if they wouldn't have a long distance relationship, why would they spend time on a long distance friendship? The internet can be very unfriendly.
