I had extreme menstrual cycles - had bleeding for 11 months continuous, put on a lot of weight with it, loads of pain, in fact all the above. Don't use if you've had menstrual probs in the past!!!!

I can't take hormonal birth control because of migraines. When discussing birth control options with my doctor, he said that he never recommends the depo shot. It just has too many side effects and a lot of them can not be reversed. I actually just got the IUD. There are no hormones and it is good for up to 5 years. I had a little discomfort at first, but now I love it. No pain, no side effects from hormones, and I don't even have to think about it.

I also gained 100 pounds in a year.
Horrible cramping. Loooonngggg periods.
Decrease in libido... My husband and I laughed - what's the point of taking birth control that makes you NOT want to have sex??

If you do a search online, you will find THOUSANDS of horror stories about Depo-Provera. It is some NASTY stuff, and I'd advise anyone to stay far far away from it.

Yes I have. Any hormonal birth control option made me extremely moody and I also gained weight. I opt for the condom. No hormones and very effective. It's all we use and have never had an "accident".

Gained over 100 lbs in a year. Don't take it. It's awful. The weight gain is like being blown up like a balloon--you don't eat more or move less, it just happens.
