Hi yes you can still walk on your toe if you have a fracture, would be very painful thou. You need to go to your nearest A/E dept and get seen by one off the A/E Drs they will x-ray your ankle and toes and decide from there what treatment you will need.If you have fractured your toe you will either has a strap applied or you will have to have a plaster cast ,this will all depend where the fracture is and how bad th fracture is.If the fracture is a displaced fracture you will need either a manipulation where they pull the bone both in the allignment or they will insert a pin through the bone, this pin will be taken out in 4-8wks.Good Luck

Yes. Most people keep walking with a broken toe but the key thing is, have you had an injury to your foot?
If the answer is yes, then you may have a broken toe and an x-ray would confirm this. Often the only treatment is to rest it and take painkillers. Even if it involves the bones in the foot it is rare to need surgery or plaster.
BUT if you have not recieved an injury then you need to see a doctor. It could be gout or infection or arthritis.... the list is long.

Yes, unfortunately you can still walk, it just hurts more! - However, if so much of your foot, including the underside is swollen, I'd go to A&E and get an extra and find out exactly what you've done. Seriously not a good idea to just leave it. And if you have broken it, you can get pain killers etc, which should help a little.

You should visit a doc. The big toe helps you maintain balance, so yo would have great trouble if you broke your big toe. The others are a pain, but you can generally walk depending on the swelling.
You may have hurt something worse if the ball of your foot is involved...see a doc soon!

You should still be able to walk. If you go to the doctor they will just give you tape to tape your broke toe to another toe beside of it. They may give you a shoe thing to wear. But just try not to wear shoes that are tight on your toes. It may take a while for your toe to be normal again. My toe has been swollen for a few months but I keep hitting it on things so it don't help. Good Luck and be careful where you walk.

Hi
Yes you can still walk, all be it painfull. (Its untrue that we "need our big toe for walking, we adjust by putting our weight on the side of our foot opposite to the pain!) Its more likely that you have severely bruised your toe?? you did not say which? usually its either the small toe , or the big toe, (strange huh??)
Try and keep the swelling down with cool water, and try not to put too much weight on it if possible, You can tape it to the next, but it really doesnt require it.
If you have any immediate dark swelling, get down to the medics.
Good luck Paul

Sure, you could still walk with a broken toe but as you have a swollen ball of the foot, thi suggests something else. Check it out with your GP.

Which toe have you ever broken and has an xray shown it as broken? I broke one among my ft (not the super toe) and easily positioned some padding between it and its neighbour, strapped the two jointly, and wore sandals for a on an identical time as. The 'stable' toe acted as a splint. not lots you an do to velocity up the technique and it extremely is going to be soft for extremely a on an identical time as.

I broke my big toe many years ago. I was at work and stood on it the entire shift so I didn't go to the ER for at least twelve hours. After they x-rayed it and found it was broken all they did was tape it to the next toe and it felt a lot better immediately. You might want to try that.

Yes you would. There is no real treatment for a broken toe, just a bit of sticking plaster to stop it wobbling around too much and give it time to heal.
You should get it X rayed though, you may need painkillers for a couple of weeks and the hosp could prescribe them for you.
