Try Craigslist. For a free message board, its pretty current and has some good deals on a lot of stuff. Im still hunting for a motorcycle there but thats because Im picky. Chances are what you find will be used but hey, if its a good deal, who cares, right?

Are there any furniture stores going out of business in your area? That's the best deals.

Also, all furniture stores will have 'clearance' sets (floor models that have been in the store too long) that will have great prices, too.

And remember that furniture prices are negotiable, not set.

Just to add to the craigslist suggestion. Under "For Sale" click on the link that say "free" Alot of times people donate useful things. Also check out freecyle.com or it may be freecycle.org for free items that people have donated. :o)
