which one should i choose and should i just get wireless internet

I think it all depends on your needs. Do you need to use the computer at work and school? Do you have a quite place to have a computer station? There are advantages and disadvantages to both, it is really a choice of what your needs are and how you are going to use the computer. A notebook can be great if you have limited space, but a desk top, imho, can be easier to use. I would go to an electronics store, like Best Buy, and just compare.
As far as the wireless internet, I like mine, but I am no expert, I have a desk top that the wireless is hooked up to, then I am able to use my lap top. So, sorry I am not help with the wireless question.

I agree with Dawn. What are you circumstances. Space? Portability? Could you have both? and then there is the cost. Desktop cpu is simplest and least expensive to buy, connect and maintain, If you have enough space.
Wireless depends on being near a hot zone, meaning that there is a very limited distance from the source where your computer can use it. I do not know for sure if that source can be portable. Like Dawn said, get whatever answers you need from an electronics specialty store, or on line at sites like Cnet,com that has information on all aspects of computing free.
Good luck. I am glad my chooices were cut & dried at the beginning (desktop. dialup) so I didn't have to get quite as confused.
